The Association of Charitable Children Institutions of Kenya (ACCIK) in collaboration with Juvenile Justice Agencies, Multimedia University of Kenya and other stakeholders organized the 1st National Symposium on Child Care and Protection. The Symposium was held at the Multimedia University of Kenya, Mbagathi campus Nairobi, Kenya from 16th to 18th May 2018 under the theme ‘Building Synergy for Enhanced Child Care and Protection: Experiences, Challenges, and Opportunities’.
ACCIK is a national network for registered Charitable Children Institutions (CCIs) from across Kenya. The CCIs are established under the Children Act with the sole mandate of providing care, protection, control and rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection.
The impetus to host this symposium was born from the need to bring stakeholders in child care and protection to share experiences, build on best practices, improve professionalism and develop collaborations.
The symposium was organized in collaboration with the Government of Kenya, Multimedia University of Kenya, ERIKS Development partner among others. The event brought together stakeholders in child care and protection, such as; Juvenile Justice Agencies, physical and mental health practitioners, education and research institutions, media, NGO’s religious organizations, and national and county governments.
